Ants

Ants

Ants

One of the smallest critters of them all can be the worst when they enter our home. At first, it’s a few, exploring the area looking for any food to forage on. Then the family shows up, and you’re not only infested with a few ants but potentially thousands.

Where Do They Come From?

The ant workers, also known as foragers, find those small cracks, gaps, or any opening they can find on the outside of your home. The unfortunate part is that we can’t always be full-proof and have our home completely sealed up, which means any opening is a welcome sign for these little pests. Ants can enter through:

Pipes And Wires Opening

Any opening outside of your house is an entrance, yet this situation, unfortunately, can be inevitable. Ants will find these openings and enter freely. Sometimes there isn’t a lot we can do about this but doing our best to have our home as sealed as possible will help.

Spaces In Flooring

If ants seem to be coming up through the floor, chances are they have paved a path underneath your tiles, carpet, or floorboards.

Gaps In The Foundation

Possibly the worst entrance for ants to carve is through the foundation of your home. Not only do we have to deal with the annoyance of having them inside, but ants possess the potential to cause damage to the foundation, which could end up being a long-term struggle.

Windows And Doors

Opening up the windows and door on a beautiful spring morning sounds wonderful but provides ants with the perfect opportunity to come inside the home and share the ambiance.

What Are They Looking For?

Ants are on the hunt for food and water, but more importantly, they like to find higher moisture places. This involves areas in the home that have standing water or are damp. The most popular areas are generally the kitchen and the bathroom. On both sites, you will most likely find ants hanging around. On top of this, ants have a sweet tooth just like us. They like to look for the sugary and sweet smells, as well as bread and pet foods.

What Time Of The Year Do They Enter?

Despite ants being both unwanted and potentially entering the home at any time of the year, the most common times are throughout the summer and spring. When the air gets warmers, and our houses are more commonly damp due to not drying as quickly, we can find ants enjoying themselves at their most preferred temperature.

Why Pest Control?

Ants won’t take no for an answer, and even stomping on those foragers roaming around won’t stop the potential swarms that can enter the home. While you may find plenty of DIY options online, the problem with ants is that not only will these temporary solutions not solve the overall problem, but ants will continue to come back. All it will take is one ant to create the problems you had in the first place.

Pest control will eliminate the problem at the source by eliminating the whole colony. Alongside this, homeowners need to take the option of pest controls seriously as different ants often require different treatments. As they are different sizes, shapes and have different habits, your pest control will be able to offer you the best plan in ridding your home, saving you time, money and stress!
